Terrorism against Israel is not news?
The terrorism that hitsIsrael is identical to the one investing the rest of the world: missing thispoint is very dangerous for the West. It is discrimination, it is diverting theeyes away from pain, it is the negation of the feeling of solidarity that shouldbe the glue of the war against terrorism itself. If it is true that in order toface a conflict first of all you must define it, then the misunderstanding hereis corruptive and lethal. On Sunday John Biden, the Vice President of theUnited States, in his weekly address at the White House, defined the currentattacks as “heinous” and mentioned Paris, Beirut, Iraq and Nigeria. Israel didnot appear in the list, despite the fact that exactly the same day it lost a 21year old girl, Hadar Buchris, and suffered other attacks, just like any otherday.
The face of a twenty-oneyear old cannot be but beautiful because it is lit by the long radiant path oflife before it. How much pain Italy has felt these last days crying its girlkilled in Paris: Valeria Solesin’s smiling face has appeared on all the frontpages, and the sorrow hurts on all the more because of the rage about theincomprehensible randomness of the event. On Sunday in Israel we saw Hadar’s beautifulface on the papers. And she is gone, knifed to death on a road in Gush Etzion, nearJerusalem. The assassin, killed right after the attack, was a 34 year old manfrom Beit Fajar, a Palestinian village, a young man with a fanatic, random aim:kill the Jews. Yesterday, yet again, a taxi driver tried to drive into a groupof Israeli and then jumped out of the car with a knife, injured one person andwas then shot down by a civilian. He came from Ramallah. A woman driver wasalso hit as she tried to run over an Israeli man in the outskirts of Nablus.
These are just the latestepisodes of a continuous chain of attacks that has been going on for the lastthree months but has its ancestor already in the 1920’s when terrorism was setup as a method of genocide planned by the Islamism of the Palestinian mufti HajAmin al Husseini, a friend of Hitler’swho, in opposition to a group of moremoderate Arab forces, decided to attempt the wiping out of the Jews – who were forhim the utmost example of Western corruption – from the area (Palestine was thename the ancient Romans gave Judea, after the second Bar Kokhbarevolt in 132 A.D.)that was on the way tobe transformed from British Mandate into Israel.
Now, in the period from October1st to November 19th, 91 attacks have been carried out by102 Palestinians and 3 Israeli Arabs. At least a dozen were aged from 12 to 17,and others were women aged from 16 to 72.Approximately half of them have beenkilled by the security forces. The attacks have involved the whole of Israel, from Afula in the extreme north to Beersheba, in the Negev, although Jerusalemremains the hub since to meet death there as a shahidis a popular wish among the young.
An interview is circulatingthese days with a pretty Palestinian mother in an Israeli hospital. Her childhas just been saved by Israeli doctors who are very proud and also gentle ("Wenever gave up, smile" they tell the Arab mother who cries for joy), andthen the woman declares she is ready to give the life of her child, of all the Palestinianchildren, for Jerusalem, where the prophet Muhammad ascended to Heaven from AlAqsa. She repeats that for Muslims death is like life: they are not afraid ofdeath. In fact, they desire death. The current intifada is made up of suicideterrorists, like in Paris. Just a few days ago a young man continued advancing whileshooting at a policeman who was protecting himself with a bullet-proof shield. In the end, the policeman, finding the youth right up close, was forced toshoot back. The young man was seeking martyrdom, because his entire ideology isbased on that. Obviously, not all Palestinians think this way, but those whopractice terrorism do. This is how terrorists are made. Their aspirations havenothing to do with the request for a Palestinian State or their socialconditions. They aim at an Islamic world. Suicide, martyrdom in the name oftheir faith, of the Mosque, their hate of imperialist Jews as representative ofthe West is the leitmotiv that accompanies all of contemporary jihadism. ThePalestinian terrorist army is a social group that has in common with all otherterrorist groups its ideological certitude, a brain wash from media, family, mosque and school totally imbued with the determination to beat an enemydepicted as pure evil, and a powerful impulse to become a shahid (martyr). These are today’s terrorists: they accept nocompromise and they disdain negotiation that is seen as negotiating with thedevil.
Yesterday the PalestinianMedia Watch broadcast a video of a young girl reciting this poem on PA TV: "When I was young I was taught that Arabnessis my honor, and that our lands extend from one end to the other, and that ourwars are for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that our enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail...".
This is the culture in thename of which Eitan and Naama Henkin were killed in front of their childrenaged from 9 years to 4 months. And similarly others, all Israeli, after them aswell as many, many, many before them, thousands of them. To fail to recognizethem as victims of the terrorism that is also smiting Paris and can targetanyone is to ignore the explosive power of Islamist ideology. It is tantamountto surrendering to its propaganda.
