Europe is blind: Iran wants to wipe off Israel

Il Giornale, August 21st 2012Plenty of ink has been spilled over the debate about the chances, the imminence, for many people the dreadful likelihood, that Israel strikes Iran's nuclear plants.This thought however replaces the most logical and simple idea, which originates from the realization of reality: Iran wants to destroy Israel.
On the contrary, we as Europeans are masters of denial, historical characters of a poetic imagery. The underlying idea in all of these debates is: the usual trouble-maker, i.e. Israel, being led by a violent rightist politician, wants to set off for a war action that will overwhelm us all. What a nuisance is Israel, a danger to all from its very birth. But in truth, Israel never threatened either Iran, nor anyone else. Iran on the other hand, but we are not really capable of realizing it, is building a nuclear bomb in order to destroy Israel. The annihilation of Israel is essential for Iran in order to impose its flag over the Middle East, as both Shiites and Sunnis consider it a revolting enemy to the entire Islam, as well as they see this way the official representatives of the West, USA, Europe, and Pope's Rome.
Shahab-2 and -3 missiles are meant for us all: the goal is to re-establish the caliphate: who read Khomeini, who read Bin Laden, who read Al Banna and his descendants the Muslim brothers … knows that when an Islamic leader talks, you'd better listen. Now, when will Israel act? As soon as the danger is definitive, incontrovertible. Iran has got enough enriched uranium to make a bomb, but it has not decided to assemble it yet. As soon as it decides so and it will be ready to eradicate “the cancer of Israel” as announced in these days by Khamenei and Ahmadinejad to the last henchman of the Iranian military, then the right time will come. Period. Either you like it or not, Israel will not let itself be annihilated. Jews will not accept to be exterminated a second time. That is the whole point.
At that point, with or without Obama, with or without the USA, with or without Europe, all that will not matter. International consensus will not be worth a damn when they are about to kill you. Beforehand it is, when the West could act more incisively through sanctions. But afterward, as Netanyahu is no paranoid, it will only act at the due moment. Ultimately the much rumored news leaks are not reliable, Israel has always been able to keep its secrets, from the destruction of Osirak to the Syrian one, as well as many other cases … Leaks are a deterrence systems that work on both scores, they try to induce the US and Europe to mean business. I could have written all those great attack plans appeared on internet myself, or else a kid playing at war. Puh-leeze!

I am just reading this article now. Thank you for it. It saddens me but is no surprise. But look at the anti-Israel policies of the current ruling American administration.May I correct your English? Iran wants to wipe Israel off the Map not "wipe it off "(which implies an innocent, helpful cleaning off- of perhaps rain water or soap bubbles). English is a very idiomatic language.
