Europe and Prejudice

It’s hard to get used to Europe know-it-all and punitive attitude when it gazes solely on one side: Israel. How is it possible that the EU has found a sudden efficiency by canceling indefinitely as a punishment the business summit scheduled for the near future with Israel? How can it be that neither the European Union nor the UN, or even the French and British governments don’t take any action upon  hearing that the Syrian government has hanged 13 thousand dissidents, young people who didn’t even die because their weight was too light to hang; why does no one question what’s going on when the leader of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah announced “a big surprise" for Israel just as it has been revealed that he had planned the massacres of Jewish children in Brazil; how can it be that not a soul in Brussels says a word to Iran – a nation that declares it can strike Tel Aviv in 7 minutes... and instead all find the breath to condemn a law passed in the Knesset that allows Israel to maintain control of certain "outposts", i.e. peripheral settlement areas, built on Palestinian-owned land? All of Europe has stood up screaming and it seems, however, that no one has bothered to read the actual law.

The basic assumption of the condemnation is the same old that Obama preferred: the settlements prevent peace by blocking the solution of "two states for two peoples." Everyone knows it’s not true: the refusal to recognize the Jewish state and to sit and talk about realistic solutions is what has prevented the attainment of an agreement, and when the deal was on the table as it was at Camp David and later in Annapolis, in the end it was simply yet another opportunity for the Palestinians to show their "no" to the best proposals.

The law known as the "Regulation for the outposts" could be overturned by the High Court of Justice, as the opposition parties in Israel have threatened accusing again Netanyahu: more swiftly otherwise, they say, the International Criminal Court at the Hague will criminalize Israel. The Palestinians promise immediate action. Netanyahu, who was in the UK meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May while the law was being voted upon, would have preferred to postpone the vote until after his meeting with Donald Trump scheduled for February 15, someone wrote. But the strain and suffering of the country that had just occurred during the final push to evacuate residents of Amona accelerated the vote.

The settlers see it as an event that establishes a future right also to other controversial territories. The law states that for one year the order of dismantling 6 controversial outposts will be suspended, which under a previous court order were deemed to be destroyed, and meanwhile the civil administration will investigate. Orders may be suspended, however, only if the buildings were made in good faith and with the approval of the State. Compensation will be provided to former Palestinian owners at 125 percent of the value or instead they can opt for an alternative plot of land.

The Palestinians call it a law that "legalizes theft," the Arab world stands behind them, the UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov says that "the law establishes a very dangerous principle" because "it opens the door to the total annexation of the West Bank", British Minister Tobias Ellwood declares that the law "threatens the two-state solution" and the French Foreign Minister Jean Marc Ayrault didn’t miss the opportunity to thrown in his condemnation in relation to the law. Same old party. Europe ignores that thousands of homes, according to Eugene Kontorovitch, an expert on international law, were built on land that was given away by the Jordanian Hashemite monarchy during their presence there from 1949 to 1967 to medieval latifundium. Few families have come to claim the land in question over the years: under Jordanian law, the issue of ownership would have by now to a large extent lapsed. Moreover, if some of that land would have been secretly sold to the Jews, this would remain secret, because it would have been punished with the death penalty: that means that no one will confirm whether or not this actually occurred.

That land meanwhile has become inhabited and productive, and for example, some Amona settlers accepted to leave their homes, but not giving up their cultivated land and therefore have appealed, according to international laws. The Turkish occupation of Cyprus allowed in 2005 the Turkish settlers to remain on ex Greek property.  Isn't that the same international laws book that should regulate the Israeli Palestinian issue? Or the EU has a new text?
To conclude, if you think about the evacuation of Gaza, about the greenhouses torn apart, about the homes and synagogues destroyed within a few with fires and mattocks used once the settlers were removed, it’s truly difficult to understand Europe’s sacred ethos of today.

Dear Fiamma It isn't a prejudice !It's a mass psychosis unbased, unjustified and biased .The real diagnosis to this pernicious syndrom might be called "VIRUS PALAESTINUS and biological carrier to it is Defeatist European Neo-Liberalism -the best breeding ground for Islamist infiltration into the West - a new form of the Wars of Islam of which "the Palestinians are a forefront and a strugling Arm against the only tiny isle of Democracy in the area - The State of IsraelThe Palestinian leaders present and p-ast don't make a secret of their real intentions to extend a new Caliphate on the entire region and the world over Centuries ago -Roman Empire collapsed by the invasion of similar hordes Then it was just brutal force - now it is reinforced by d-r,Goebbels' like fraudulent propagandaYet ,the phenomen and the symptoms are the same . You cannot come to civilised terms with them because they reject any civilised agrred upon deal based on mutual compromises and concessions and " 2 states Solution" is only a new form of Quaresh agreement meant at Israel's gradual extermination.Italy should become the first idiological lab to cure this desease and work out an efficient vaccination against itand You its avisor Thank You , dear Fiamma Yo are us !Peter Rotberg
